Tips for Applying a Full Set of False Eyelashes

by admin on February 25, 2009

If you don’t naturally have thicker and long eyelashes, false lashes offer a quick do it your self solution.  They can your eyes look bigger and more inviting.  False eyelashes can be made with human hair or synthetic  material. Full sets of false eyelashes can be trimmed to fit the width of your eye.  Here are some great tips for applying false eye lashes. NOTE  full sets are more difficult to apply than individual sets

Do Not curl your eyelashes first!  This will make applying false eyelashes quite difficult.  If needed, false eyelashes can be curled once applied, when the glue is dry.

1.  Trim the false lashes to fit the width of your eye.  It’s best to do this by measuring your eyes.  To do this hold up an a false eyelash to your eye (without glue) to get an estimate. If cutting is needed, trim the eyelash from the end, not the corner.  The end is longer than the corner,  just like your  natural eye.  Also trim the individual lenghts of the lash for a more natural look.  Real eyelashes are not uniform in length.

2.  Once taken off the holder, bend the eyelashes around your finger.  This will help with a more natural look.  Application will be easier.

3.  Squeeze eyelash glue onto the back of your hand.  This makes it easy to control the glue.  Use an orange wood stick to apply the glue, (a long thin stick-similar to a giant toothpick)  Different kinds of glue can be used, depending on your partcular needs.  Stronger glues do have strong smells, sometimes making your eyes water.  Put a light coat of glue on lashes, using the stick.

4.  Look down when applying, starting the the corner.  Place at base of lash line, use your orange stick to push the eyelash down .  You can also use tweezers.  The white glue will dry clear.  Work your way around  the eyelid, using your fingers or the orange wood stick.

5.  When the glue is dry, use eyeliner to reline top of lash line.

There is a great variety of semi-permanent  eyelashes to choose from, with a price range from $2.00 all the way to $30.00 per set.  Average price eyelashes will be your best value.  Higher quality false eyelashes can be re-used.  Soak them in some water to loosen the existing glue.  Since they have conformed to your eyelid, replacing will be much easier.
